About your creative director!

Nancy Owyang

Nancy Owyang is a trailblazer. She's genetically programmed to be an entrepreneur. It's in her DNA.

"I had always wanted to start my own business—even when I was a little girl," says Nancy. "The logical path might be to get a job, build up a network through that job, and then set out on your own—but that path wasn't for me. Instead I moved to a new state, started my business, and was thrown into the pool of marketing and networking without really knowing how to swim. Now, I can look back and see that having strong family support and great mentors were instrumental to my success."

She grew up in an artistic and entrepreneurial family, liking math, order, and planning. After considering a career in architecture, Nancy discovered that graphic design offered the best of all possible worlds by combining art, design, business, strategy, planning, communication—and even math into her dream job.

Today, as creative director and owner of Eye 2 Eye Graphics, Nancy creates strategic designs that capture her clients' passion—and transforms their branding from "obsolete" to "outstanding".

Nancy educates her clients on the importance of branding and creates a logo and other marketing collateral that identifies them in the marketplace. She tells the story of one client whose existing logo was created by his son many years before. "It was no longer serving his business well, but he was having a hard time parting with it," says Nancy. "I put together some different options for him and helped him see that with the right branding, his business would grow. Through this process he learned that as his business evolves so must his brand identity. He came out of it with a new logo and stationery package he loved and really suited his business."

Clients praise Nancy's unique design sensibilities and her ability to create a brand that's both visual and memorable. Her solutions are comprehensive, detail-oriented, on time and on budget.

"Nancy is a risk-taker, but not in a 'leave-you-in-the-dust' kind of way," says Robin Taney, owner of Studio 4 PR, a public relations business for creative entrepreneurs. "She listens to what you want, involves you in the process, and creates something that is so representative of who you are, that it's kind of scary. She really gets it."

Nancy earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in graphic design from the University of the Pacific. She's received numerous awards, including the Visual Arts Award of Professionalism from the University of the Pacific and the BPW Washington State's Young Careerist Award. She's an active member of the Executive Women International Seattle and Women Business Owners.

Her refreshing approach earned her a mention in the book, The Designer's Guide to Business and Careers: How to Succeed on the Job or on Your Own by Peg Faimon (FW Media, June 2009). Her work has been published in American Corporate Identity 2009 and is also featured in American Graphic Design and Advertising in 2010.
